9:00am Category: Daisy Programs[9:00am] Welcome to the Daisy Flower Garden - FULL & CLOSED
Description:
THIS PROGRAM IS NOW FULL & CLOSED. Girls will have hands-on gardening activities, plant their own pot garden with one plant and seeds and create a flower or leaf pressed picture. After their 2 hour garden session, troops/girls can visit the children's garden which has numerous activities including a large scale treehouse, plastic vegetable shop and play water area. Daisies will work toward their Watering Can award in the Welcome to the Daisy Flower Garden Journey. Class size is limited to Girl Scouts and their adult chaperones only. Garden is open to the public for those families who wish to visit the garden while their daughter is in the gardening session. Cost per adult & children 13 and up is $8; siblings under 2 are free. Cost for the children's garden for children 12 and under is $3; adults 13 and older are free. Fees for families are to be paid at the gate at the gardens. Registration Deadline: 3/28/13 (mark session time on registration form) Cost: $11/girl (includes 2 hour lesson plus wristband for participation into the children's garden after gardening session); $8/adult (1 adult/5 Daisies is free; list all adults on registration and designate those entering free) Min/Max: 25/50 Program Manager: Carolyn


[10:00am] First Aid, CPR, and AED Training @ REFRESH!
Description:
This course will provide you with the knowledge and skills necessary to act in an emergency until professional medical help arrives. You will learn and practice adult, child and infant CPR and first aid skills. You will also learn how to administer an Automated External Defibrillator. This training is REQUIRED for one adult per troop when participating in activities away from meeting site. Who: Adults who will be serving as the trained first-aider and/or CPR certified adult for the troop/group. Cost: $35.50 (includes book, certification card, skills booklet and bandage kit) OR $27 (includes certification card, skills booklet and bandage kit). Additional $5 for non-Girl Scouts. Financial assistance is available. Bring: Sack lunch and drink. Dress comfortably. Min/Max: 6/20 Deadline: Registration closes two (2) weeks prior to the day of the training. Note: Registration fee(s) for these courses or an application for financial assistance MUST accompany the registration. Deadline to register is 4/5/13.

Description:

Come to the Treehouse Center and visit owls, hawks, turtles and other critters that live in your backyard and in Illinois woods. Learn about these wild animals and find out what you can do to help those injured on their way to rehabilitation. Description:
THIS EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELLED. Come get your Earth Day on, Manitowa style! What better way to celebrate our planet than by zipping through the tree tops, kayaking the lake, doing some wildlife identification, taking some nature hikes and just plain old having fun outside! Description:
Girl Scout Seniors and Ambassadors can earn this award by mentoring younger girls in a camp setting as you build skills toward becoming a camp counselor. To earn the CIT Award, you must do the following: complete the council CIT Training and work with younger girls over the course of a camp session (this can be earned with day or resident camp).
