It's a Road Trip for Brownies and their leaders! Girls will visit the Shaw Preservation Nature Area for a hike through the wildflowers and prairies on their way to earning their Hiker Badge. Our second stop is all about animals! Girls will explore the Purina Farms Visitor Center which includes wagon rides, cow milking, flying freesbie dogs and dog show visit at the state of the art Purina Event Calendar. Brownies will complete some requirements toward their Hiker and Pets Badges. Badges not included in fee. Departing St. Clair Square Mall in Fairview Heights at 8:15am returning at 3pm. Address: 134 Saint Clair Sq., Fairview Heights, IL 62208. Departing Illinois Centre Mall in Marion at 7:30am, pick up at Times Square Mall in Mt. Vernon at 8:15am returning at 5:45pm to Mt. Girl Scout Seniors and Ambassadors can earn this award by mentoring younger girls in a camp setting as you build skills toward becoming a camp counselor. To earn the CIT Award, you must do the following: complete the council CIT Training and work with younger girls over the course of a camp session (this can be earned with day or resident camp). Then join us for a fun sleepover at Camp Whispering Oaks where we will run experiments late into the night and earn Juniors their Geocacher and Detective Badges! [9:00am] Troop Camp Training
Come learn about camping the Girl Scout way in a fun and safe environment. This course is designed to help adults plan and prepare for an overnight camping event with girls. Course content includes: site information and resources, campfire building, emergency and safety procedures, indoor/outdoor cooking and recipes, menu planning and camp activities. This training is REQUIRED for one adult per troop for overnight camping experiences of two (2) nights or less. Certification is valid for three years. Recertification written test is available from the Corporate or Regional Service Center. Who: Adults who will serve as the outdoor trained adult for the troop/group Min/Max: 6/20 Cost: $10 (includes supplies, bandana, lunch and manual) Deadline: Registration closes May 9, 2013. Note: Registration fee(s) for these courses MUST accompany the registration. All trainings take place rain or shine. You will be outdoors for part of the training. Certification is only given to participants who remain for the entire training.
