Whether you are looking to have a troop campout or just looking to have a day of fun in the sun this the perfect place. At Giant City State Park you and your girls can hike the trails, hunt for wildflowers or butterflies, go fishing, take a nature photos, or play around on sandstone rock bluffs. Need help run an outdoor badge program? The park interpreter is more than willing to schedule something with you in January, February, or September. Just give the visitor center a call.
Heath Museum & Confectionary

The Heath Museum and Confectionary is a museum, vintage soda fountain and candy store devoted to the product perfected by L.S. Heath Sons, the Heath Toffee candy bar. The museum is located in the original building of the Heath Co. The Museum is also a soda fountain which serves a variety of original, classic dairy treats served directly from a restored and vintage 1914 soda fountain. Open weekdays from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. and on Saturday from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. Free tours are available at the site.

“The Hett” is Southern Illinois’ premier performing arts venue, presenting world class dance, drama, classical music and jazz. The 488-seat auditorium is located on McKendree University campus in Lebanon, IL, 25 miles from St. Louis. Children’s shows are always part of the lineup for this state of the art facility that is reasonably priced under $10 for children’s tickets and around $15 for adult tickets.

Girl Scout Troops and individual Girl Scouts can explore the wonders of nature at the Missouri Botanical Garden & Shaw Nature Reserve. Some programs are aligned with GS Journey awards or badges. Others explore nature and STEM concepts without resulting in an award.

Bakers-In-Training. Each girl will receive a baking hat and apron, score and bake their own French Baguette (as well as one to donate), enjoy milk and a cookie and take home a Baker’s Certificate to remember the day. Signed parent permission slip from the bakery is due prior to the hour and half session.
