When you give to Family Partnership, you are investing in girls so they can change the world.
As a family member of a Girl Scout, you know what Girl Scouting means to your daughter. You have seen her make new friends, you have seen her try new things and you have seen her confidence blossom! Girl Scouting does extraordinary things for girls -- it opens doors to new opportunities, teaches essential life skills, builds leadership and creates lasting friendships.
Research shows that, compared to women who were not Girl Scouts, Girl Scout alumnae have more supportive social relationships, attain higher levels of education, earn higher incomes and feel more optimistic about their futures. Unfortunately, there are many girls in our communities who can’t afford to be a member of Girl Scouting. Last year, GSSI spent $150,000 in financial assistance so no girl was turned away from having a positive Girl Scout experience.
We want every girl who wants to be a Girl Scout to have the opportunity. That’s what Family Partnership donations do...your gift makes a difference to all girls, including your own daughter.
Family Partnership donations support a variety of Girl Scout financial needs including:
- Financial Assistance: membership dues, camp and program fees, and uniform components and books for girls who otherwise couldn’t afford to participate.
- Volunteer Support: quality training and workshops for volunteers to help ensure that girls receive the best possible adult leadership.
- Girl Scout Leadership Experience: program and materials to provide a leadership experience that is girl-led and reflects the ever changing needs and interests of today’s girls.
- Properties: facility maintenance and improvements needed to provide a safe and educational outdoor experience for girls.
Girl Scouts of Southern Illinois’ Family Partnership Campaign is a way for family and friends to support our mission of bringing life-changing experiences and programs to our 14,000 girls. All donations to the 2015 Family Partnership stay right here in southern Illinois.
Did you know that it costs approximately $276 a year to provide the Girl Scout Leadership Experience to each girl? The $15 girl membership fee goes to GSUSA and does not stay here at GSSI. While product sales and program fees cover much of the cost of Girl Scouting, a gift of $50 will cover the costs of providing training and experiences for one girl for an entire year; $100 will help provide a girl an outdoor camping experience; and $500 will provide one year’s membership for 33 girls in at-risk, low income neighborhoods.
Thank you for giving the girl in your life the opportunity to be a Girl Scout. Please join the Family Partnership by donating online now, because Every Girl Depends on Every Family.
