Now Hiring for Resident Camp at Camp Cedar Point 2012!
Do you love kids and have a passion for camping and the outdoors? Girl Scouts of Southern Illinois is currently looking to fill positions for Camp Cedar Point Resident Camp! Camp Cedar Point has been enriching the lives of girls for close to sixty years. It is located in the beautiful Crab Orchard National Wildlife Refuge in Makanda, Illinois, about 20 minutes from Carbondale, Illinois.

Camp Director
Qualifications: Must have camp experience; Adaptable, flexible, able to delegate and supervise. excellent organization and communication skills; ability to train staff and effectively lead large groups; minimum age 21.
Responsibilities: Supervise Program Supervisors, kitchen staff; conduct daily operations of resident camp; delegate work to Assistant Director; and address concerns of campers, parents, and staff members.

 

Assistant Director
Qualifications: Must have camp experience; Adaptable, flexible, able to delegate and supervise. excellent organization and communication skills; ability to train staff and effectively lead large groups; minimum age 21.
Responsibilities: Supervise Assistant Unit Leaders and Unit Leaders; assist camp director in daily operations; and address concerns of campers, parents, and staff members.

 

Unit Leader (Counselor)
Qualifications: Interest and experience working with children; supervisory skills; knowledge of outdoor program desirable; minimum age 21.
Responsibilities: Work with campers and other staff to plan and conduct unit activities; provide care and supervision to campers; supervise unit staff; coordinate unit with all-camp programs.

 

Assistant Unit Leader (Counselor)
Qualifications: Interest in children and the outdoors; experience working with children; minimum age 18.
Responsibilities: Assist with all phases of unit program and camper care/supervision as delegated by the unit leader; work with interest group and all-camp programs.

 

Waterfront Supervisor
Qualifications: Waterfront or pool experience; current American Red Cross Lifeguarding certification; experience with small craft; supervisory and communication skills; minimum age 21.
Responsibilities: Direct, coordinate and supervise all waterfront activities (including boating); supervise waterfront staff; teach waterfront safety; lifeguard; assist with all-camp activities when not on waterfront; live in a unit and assume unit responsibilities.

 

Lifeguard
Qualifications: Current American Red Cross Life guarding certification; experience with small craft; minimum age 18.
Responsibilities: Teach waterfront safety; lifeguard; assist with unit and all-camp activities when not on waterfront; live in unit and assume unit responsibilities.

 

Junior Lifeguard
Qualifications: Current American Red Cross Life guarding certification; experience with small craft; minimum age 16.
Responsibilities: Teach waterfront safety; lifeguard; assist with unit and all-camp activities when not on waterfront; live in unit and assume unit responsibilities.

 

Health Supervisor
Qualifications: Licensed as a physician, physician’s assistant, registered nurse, nurse practitioner, emergency medical technician, paramedic, military medic or equivalent; minimum age 21.
Responsibilities: Supervise and provide care for health and safety of staff and campers; maintain records.

 

Outdoor Education Supervisor
Qualifications: Youth programming experience; Outdoor education experience; ability to develop and implement programs for large groups; organization and communication skills; minimum age 21.
Responsibilities: Prepare and deliver daily outdoor education lessons to each unit; assist unit and program staff with program planning and logistics; Ability to drive rental van; Work cooperatively with Arts and Crafts Supervisor to plan badge activities and various camp-wide activities.

 

Arts and Crafts Supervisor
Qualifications: Youth programming experience; Art education experience; ability to develop and implement programs for large groups; organization and communication skills; minimum age 21.
Responsibilities: Prepare and deliver daily arts and crafts lessons to each unit; assist unit and program staff with program planning and logistics; Ability to drive rental van; Work cooperatively with Outdoor Education Supervisor to plan badge activities and various camp-wide activities.

 

Assistant Program Supervisor
Qualifications: Youth programming experience a plus; organization and communication skills; assist with programs for large groups; minimum age 18.
Responsibilities: Assist program supervisors in daily arts and crafts lessons and outdoor education lessons to units; work with interest group and all-camp programs.

 

Office Assistant
Qualifications: Excellent organization and communication skills; filing or office experience a plus; basic mathematical skills, minimum age 18.
Responsibilities: Deliver mail daily; run camp store; answer phones; assist kitchen staff with paperwork; assist other staff as needed, maintain camp records.

 

Head Cook
Qualifications: Kitchen or dining hall experience; current Illinois Food Service Sanitation Manager Certification; perform general cooking, serving, dishwashing, and cleaning duties; possess strength and endurance to work in a camp kitchen; able to train staff, delegate and supervise; minimum age 18.
Responsibilities: Direct, coordinate and supervise all aspects of the kitchen and dining hall; supervise kitchen staff; maintain high safety and cleanliness standards; ability to maintain required Summer Food Service paperwork.

 

Assistant Cook
Qualifications: Kitchen, cooking or dining hall experience; perform general cooking, serving, dishwashing, and cleaning duties; possess strength and endurance to work in a camp kitchen; minimum age 18.
Responsibilities: Assist with all phases of meal service as delegated by the Head Cook; assist unit staff with setup and cleaning of dining hall. Remove trash to dumpster.
