Sprint TAKE ACTION service project

Each February, since 1949, the American Dental Association (ADA) has sponsored National Children’s Dental Health Month to raise awareness about the importance of oral health. Developing good habits at an early age and scheduling regular dental visits helps children get a good start on a lifetime of healthy teeth and gums. On the ADA website there are great activity sheets you may want to complete with your troop. Check it out at www.ada.org/prof/events/featured/ncdhm.asp

We challenge each troop in GSSI to donate a new oothbrush and tube of toothpaste equal to the number of girls in your troop, to a food pantry, shelter, or a place of worship that has this type of ministry.

A special patch will be offered for this spring TAKE ACTION project. Please forward any photos of your troop completing this project for the council website and to ensure that efforts of the girls in the troop are acknowledged. Deadline to submit participation and patch form is March 1, 2010. This deadline is FIRM. The participation and patch order form will be available on our website at www.girlscoutsofsouthernillinois.org “Program Opportunities”. All patches will be delivered through the service unit meetings. All troops will be recognized in the leader’s monthly newsletter.
