At Girl Scouts of Southern Illinois, we know we would not be able to provide exceptional service to our members without the work of our dedicated volunteers.  We feel that our outstanding volunteers deserve to be recognized.  Please see the opportunities below for Adult Recognitions.

Volunteers are the HEART of Girl Scouting.  Since 1912, Girl Scouts has built girls of “courage, confidence and character, who make the world a better place and we would not be able to achieve this without are dedicated and committed volunteers.  In fact, each year GSSI’s 4,800 volunteers donate on average about 416 hours to help provide a premier Girl Scout Leadership Experience for our 14,000 girls.  According to the National Corporation For National and Community Service, the average value of volunteer time is $21.36 an hour…and the estimated value of volunteer time for GSSI by our volunteers is $42,651,648.

Track your volunteer hours and receive a special recognition.  Annually, volunteers will receive a special recognition for the number of hours devoted to Girl Scouting.  Volunteers will receive recognition based upon number of hours submitted for the following levels: 100, 250, 500, 1000 or 1500+ hours.  You can submit the form monthly, quarterly, or as often as you like.  Contact any member of the Volunteer Development Department with questions regarding this recognition.

Volunteers are truly the cornerstone of Girl Scouting. There are so many wonderful people who give of their time and talents to enrich the lives of our girls. Every year at the Council’s Annual Meeting, we hold a very special awards ceremony to honor extraordinary volunteers and all that they have done for Girl Scouting. Below are the volunteers who were honored at the 2013 GSSI Annual Meeting.
