Thank you for your interest in volunteering with Girl Scouts of Southern Illinois! It’s easy for you to get involved and start making a difference. Just match your expertise, skills, interests, and life experiences to the opportunities available. Think it’s a full year commitment? Think again. There are endless, flexible ways to participate. Volunteer by yourself, with a small group of friends, or be part of a larger group that wants to adopt a project.
Opportunities include, but are not limited to: Office Helpers are needed at our Glen Carbon or Mt. Vernon offices for special projects as well as on a regular schedule to greet guests, answer phones, and help with mailings.
Program Event Assistants are needed to help with registration, set-up/clean-up, parking, and activity stations on a one-time, 4-6 week, or as needed basis.
Special Fund Raising Event various opportunities to plan and support events including Golf Tournament, Thin Mint Sprint, Dancing with Our Stars, and Phon-o-thon.
Career Professionals can share skills with girls at program events, career days or troop meetings.
STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) Volunteers are needed to help girls explore non-traditional fields, coach robotics teams, or lead and assist with STEM program events.
Outreach Programs need volunteers to help provide Girl Scouting in schools, detention centers, public housing areas, group homes, and local community centers ensuring the Girl Scout Leadership Experience is available to all girls.
Camp Clean-up Days are available at all six of our camp properties. Spend a morning, an afternoon, or a whole day at one of our camps to help get it ready for our campers. We need help with cleaning, painting, staining, brush removal, etc. Cleaning materials will be supplied.
Day Camp Volunteers are needed for the entire 5-day duration, just one day or even one session. Day camps are held throughout the council jurisdiction for girls between the ages of 5-18. Must be willing to have fun, be patient, and love working with children!

Pathways are how both girls and adults participate in Girl Scouting. You can view our Position Descriptions to see a variety of volunteer opportunities by Pathway. You can choose a Pathway that allows you to fit Girl Scouting into your lifestyle, whether it is once a month, weekends, evenings, or at a particular time of year.
