Dear Girl Scouts of Southern Illinois,
At Girl Scouts of Southern Illinois, the health and well-being of our members, staff and extended Girl Scout family are our top priority. We understand the concern and uncertainty you may be experiencing surrounding COVID-19 and are committed to being responsive to the needs of our members and staff as the situation evolves.
While we are not aware of any cases within our council jurisdiction, our Council is taking these extra steps to minimize exposure to COVID-19 and its spread while doing our best to continue to provide a quality Girl Scout experience. We are here for you. Mission-critical business will continue as planned and as of now, our office will remain closed to visitors with staff working remotely during regular business hours.
All programs and product program cookie booths will go on without interruption this weekend. Still, in order to operate with an abundance of caution, beginning Monday, March 16, we are suspending all Girl Scouts of Southern Illinois activities, council-run programs, meetings, trainings and property reservations until March 31. At that time, we will reevaluate the situation and determine the next steps.
What does this mean for you?
All school recruitment and program activities are suspended beginning Monday, March 16th until March 31st. This includes all troop meetings and service unit meetings.
An additional email and messaging regarding the status of the Annual Meeting will be shared at a later date as we monitor the situation.
All meetings with external visitors at all council-owned properties are suspended.
GSofSI’s retail shop will be closed. Customers may still place an order with the shop during shop hours by calling (618) 307-3647 or by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org. All orders will be mailed out on Fridays.
We are suspending all Girl Scouts facility rentals from Monday, March 16th until March 31st. Customer Care will be reaching out to participants with details on reschedules and/or refunds.
GSofSI will provide operational updates including posting information on our website and Facebook, as needed.
If you or your girl(s) are registered for a program, you will be contacted by the appropriate team member to discuss participation options. If you have further questions, please contact our Customer Care team at (800) 345-6858.
As always, the health, safety, and well-being of our members, staff and extended Girl Scout family are of paramount concern. We will continue to carefully monitor this quickly evolving situation and are here to assist our members and volunteers.
For additional information about COVID-19, visit the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention at cdc.gov. CDC has also put together this helpful handout on what you can do to mitigate the spread of COVID-19.
Good Afternoon Girl Scout of Southern Illinois,
We understand the volunteers and members have a few questions regarding how the council will function during our suspension of Girl Scout activities. If any of these items pertain to you or those you serve, please share the following messaging. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Customer Care during regular business hours at 800-345-6858 or email email@example.com. Thank you for standing strong behind the mission during this time.
Additional council updates:
- Council will be extending the Cookie Program Booth Sale to May 3rd to give girls ample time to sell their inventory. The deadline of March 17th to submit rewards will remain the same. After the initial reward period has ended, troops will earn an additional $.10 per package.
- As it stands now for the ACH pull, the council will pull 50% of balances on March 26th and as for the remaining balance, council will be meeting this week to decide the next course of action.
- Council will continue to monitor the developing situation with COVID-19.
- Please remember, GSofSI has announced suspending all Girl Scout activities starting Monday, March 16th. In the meantime, parents, caregivers and volunteers must do what they believe is in the best interest of their girls' safety.
Again, we value the voice of our volunteers. Please don't hesitate to reach out to council during business hours. While the council office and shop are closed to visitors, staff will continue to work remotely during business hours to help support your needs.
During his daily COVID-19 update on Monday, Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker, following the advice of the CDC mandated that any gatherings over 50 people be cancelled for the next eight weeks. Therefore, the Girl Scouts of Southern Illinois Annual Meeting scheduled for March 28, 2020 will be postponed until a later date. We will keep you informed of updates. Please watch our website for the most up-to-date news.
