A Message from CEO Loretta Graham:
Dear Girl Scouts of Southern Illinois,
We are currently in the process of scheduling the 2020 Annual Meeting. As you know, as a result of COVID-19 we were forced to cancel our in-person Annual Meeting. We had anticipated moving our Annual Meeting to virtual without delay. However, after the parliamentarian reviewed our bylaws it was determined that our bylaws do not allow virtual Annual Meetings.
To resolve this and allow us to have a virtual Annual Meeting the Bylaws Committee met Monday, May 11, 2020, to pass an Amendment Change, with Board approval, that will allow us to have a virtual Annual Meeting. The Amendment Change will be sent to the Board of Directors for approval. The Board of Directors will be meeting in two weeks for a special meeting to approve the Amendment. Once the Board approves the Amendment it must be passed by a Special Meeting of the Members (to be scheduled). Once the Amendment is passed by membership (two-thirds vote) we can proceed with having our virtual Annual Meeting.
We recognize that making these change has taken some time and we will do our best to keep moving forward to have the virtual Annual Meeting scheduled as soon as possible. Please email Loretta Graham at email@example.com if you have any questions.
GSofSI Programs & Events
The health and well-being of our girls, volunteers, and staff are our top concern. Based on the guidance of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC), local and state social-distancing mandates, and advice from healthcare professionals, we have made the difficult decision to cancel ALL programs through at least August 31. This includes all resident and day camps, troop camping, and events.
As state restrictions are lifted, we will we can do to provide a consistent Girl Scout program. We will keep you informed on when our in-person activities will resume. We have provided FAQ’s regarding this difficult decision.

Adult Training Certifications
Due to the limitations COVID-19 has created for our volunteers to renew certain certifications, we will be granting an extension for Canoeing, CPR/AED/First Aid, and Archery trainings through December 31, 2020. If a volunteer’s certification(s) for any of these named programs expires between March 2020 and October 2020 and the volunteer is unable to re-certify the traditional way, GSofSI will accept the current certification through the end of the calendar year. This extension is only valid for reservations and usage of GSofSI properties. We will continue to monitor the effects of the pandemic and make necessary adjustments.
For volunteers who are interested, the American Red Cross is offering a free 120 Day Certification Extension for Base Level Certifications in response to the COVID-19 situation. Explore more on the American Red Cross extension by visiting the American Red Cross website and and completing the following online learning acknowledgement for the “120 Day Certification Extension” course.
