Guidelines During the COVID-19 Pandemic

The health and well-being of our girls, volunteers, and staff are our top concern during the COVID-19 pandemic. Girl Scouts of Southern Illinois has released new activity guidelines based on guidance from the Center for Disease Control (CDC), as well as state and local officials and health experts.

While Service Unit and Troop sponsored events with 10 or fewer participants are now permitted, let’s all work together to keep our communities safe while continuing to provide girls with exciting leadership-building experiences.

Before meeting, please review all guidelines on our website.

Council-Sponsored Program Updates

The health and well-being of our girls, volunteers, and staff are our top concern. Based on the guidance of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC), local and state social-distancing mandates, and advice from healthcare professionals, we have made the difficult decision to cancel ALL programs through at least August 31. This includes all resident and day camps, troop camping, and events.

Please see our Virtual Girl Scout Programs to find virtual patch programs, online activities, and tips to help continue the Girl Scout Leadership Experience at home!

For the safety of our girls, volunteers, and staff, all Day Camp, Resident Camp and Council Programs are cancelled through August 31st. We look forward to having in-person programs starting again in September.

We know you must have questions & we are here to answer them! GSofSI has created a Summer Program Cancellation FAQ to help. Please contact or call 800.345.6858 with any further concerns!

Troop and Service Unit Activity Updates

Girl Scouts of Southern Illinois is following local and state mandates in the case of COVID-19, an extremely contagious virus. Girl Scouts encourages volunteers, parents and guardians to take all reasonable precautions to limit potential exposure to this virus for girls, volunteers and families. The safety, health and well-being of our members is our first priority. As Illinois begins to loosen the stay-at-home restrictions, Girl Scouts of Southern Illinois will do the same. Currently southern Illinois is in Phase III of the state’s COVID-19 plan.

Girl Scouts of Southern Illinois created the following guidelines for troops or Service Units meeting in-person during Phase III. These guidelines are for day-of events only. These guidelines are for day-of events only. Overnight events are currently prohibited. Limited travel for one day activities will be allowed as long as Girl Scouts travel in vehicles with immediate household members only. Social distancing and use of masks are required upon arrival at the destination. All guidelines should be followed in conjunction with Safety Activity Checkpoints.
