Guidelines During the COVID-19 Pandemic

The health and well-being of our girls, volunteers, and staff are our top concern during the COVID-19 pandemic. Girl Scouts of Southern Illinois will keep our activity guidelines up-to-date based on the most recent guidance from the Center for Disease Control (CDC), as well as state and local officials and health experts.  

Girls and adults must social distance and wear masks at all times. Please abide by all guidelines for your region set by the State of Illinois COVID-19 Response team.  Thank you for helping keep our girls, volunteers and communities safe and healthy!

Troop and Service Unit Activity Updates

Girl Scouts of Southern Illinois is following local and state mandates in the case of COVID-19, an extremely contagious virus. Girl Scouts encourages volunteers, parents and guardians to take all reasonable precautions to limit potential exposure to this virus for girls, volunteers and families. The safety, health and well-being of our members is our first priority. 

Group gatherings must meet requirements set for your region by the State of Illinois COVID-19 Response team. 

Currently, GIrl Scouts of Southern Illinois allows single day events only. Overnight events are currently prohibited. Limited travel for one day activities will be allowed as long as Girl Scouts travel in vehicles with immediate household members only. Social distancing and use of masks are required upon arrival at the destination. All guidelines should be followed in conjunction with Safety Activity Checkpoints.

Meeting and Event Checklist

Before hosting a meeting or event, please review the Troop and Service Unit Activity Updates. Follow these guidelines for each meeting of event: 

  1. Everyone must sign an Assumption of Risk, Release and Wavier of Liability, and Indemnity Agreement in Relation to COVID-19.
  2. Keep groups to the capacity mandated by the State of Illinois COVID-19 Response Team for your region. 
  3. Meet Girl Scouts' required Girl to Adult ratios. 
  4. Maintain social distancing. Participants should be at least six feet apart.
  5. Facemasks are required. 
  6. Hand-washing capability or hand sanitizer must be available to everyone at the event.
  7. Maintain an attendance log of participants and spectators.
  8. Please avoid personal physical contact at this time, such as hugs, handshakes, high-fives, etc.

The Council Service Center remains closed to the public; however, staff are working remotely and are available by contacting 800-345-6858 or customercare@gsofsi.org.

Camp Updates

Starting September 1, Camp Butterfly, Camp Chan Ya Ta and Camp Torqua will be available for troops to enjoy hiking, archery and other outdoor activities following new safetly guidelines. Council staff will continue to evaluate these guidelines according to mandates from the national, state and local governments.
