Girl Scout Programs at Home? Yes, Please!

Our NEW Programs Unleashed series will bring Girl Scout programs right to your home! A different badge program will be available for ALL levels each month. Complete all 6 months and earn 6 badges or patches. Each registration will include a program kit with your needed supplies, a badge or patch, access to our Google Classroom for printed instructions, and a live Zoom program that will cover activities and allow you to meet some experts from the field being discussed.

Please make sure your address and Girl Scout level is correct when registering. Program cost is $25 per month. If you purchase 3 months at one time price is discounted to $22 per month. Purchase all 6 months and price is discounted to $20 per box!

October

Let Freedom Ring (deadline 10/5/2020)

This month we will be working on the new Girl Scout Democracy badges to get your ready for election day. Create a ballot box to run your own favorite Girl Scout Cookie election, participate in a scavenger hunt, make an election day cake similar to what was popular at the early days of our country and much more. 

A live Zoom program will be held on Monday, October 12 (Columbus Day). Participation in the session is not required to earn the badges. 

November

Mission Space (deadline 10/19/2020)

This month we will be working on the Space Science badges to get you ready for Blast off! Each level will earn their own Space Science badge. Join in as we explore from the comfort of our homes, complete hands-on activities and perform out of this world observations. 

A live Zoom program will be held on Monday, November 16 for Daisies, Brownies and Juniors or on Tuesday, November 17 for Cadettes, Seniors and Ambassadors. Participation in the session is not required to earn the badges. 

December

Artrageous (deadline 11/9/2020)

We have just the program for you to get ready for all your holiday gift giving. Join us this month to earn your Girl Scout Artist Legacy badges while we craft holiday ornaments to keep or give as a gift, as well as other hands-on activities to complete your badge. The following badges will be earned: Daisy - Art in the Outdoors, Brownie - Painting, Junior - Drawing, Cadette - Comic Artist, Senior - Collage and Ambassador - Photographer. 

Live Zoom programs will be held on Saturday, December 5 in the morning for Daisies - Juniors and in the afternoon for Cadettes - Ambassadors. Participation in the Zoom session is not required to complete the badges. 

January

No Dreamer is Ever Too Small, No Dream is Ever Too Big (deadline 12/21/2020)

Calling all dreamers! Join us to dream big about life and our futures while we earn Financial Literacy badges. We will work with everybody's favorite thing...money, learn about making sound choices with our money and how to achieve our dreams. You will also get a chance to meet business owners who turned their passion in to a business. The following badges will be earned: Daisy - Making Choices, Brownie - Philantrhopist, Junior - Business Owner, Cadette - Financing My Dreams, Senior - Financing My Future, Ambassdor - On My Own.

A live Zoom program will be held on Monday, January 25 for Daisies and Brownies, Tuesday, January 26 for Juniors, or Thursday, January 28 for Cadettes, Seniors and Ambassadors. Participation in the session is not required to earn the badges.

February

Conquering Cyberspace (deadline 1/18/2021)

We use computers and cellphones daily, but have you ever stopped to think about how it all works? This month is your chance to conquer cyberspace and earn your Cybersecurity Basics badge. Through virtual and hands-on activities we will learn about encryption, crack a password, learn about ethical hacking and learn ways to keep your cyberspace secure. 

A live Zoom program will be held on Monday, February 15 for Daisies, Brownies and Juniors, or Thursday, February 18 for Cadettes, Seniors and Ambassadors. Participation in the session is not required to earn the badges. 

March

It's Not Easy Being Green (deadline 2/15/2021)

Girl Scouts not only make the world a better place - they know what it takes to protect the planet too! In March, we will show the world how it’s in our DNA. by working on the Eco badges. This program will be done virtually on your own and with GSofSI staff through Zoom. We will talk and do activities helping girls get outdoors, respect wildlife, and take care of our environment. With the help of Leave No Trace, Shawnee National Forest, Elliott Wildlife Values Project and more outdoor friends we will prepare girls to be environmental advocates who address problems, find solutions and protect the natural world. 

A live Zoom program will be held on Wednesday, March 10 for Daisies and Brownies, Wednesday, March 17 for Juniors and Cadettes or Wednesday, March 24 for Seniors and Ambassadors. Participation in the session is not required to earn the badges. 

April

Thank You 4 "Beeing" a Friend (deadline 3/1/2021)

It’s important to show appreciation to those who have given us so much. Join your fellow Girl Scouts this month as we give back to our leaders, parents and mother earth. This program will be done virtually, on your own and with GSofSI staff through Zoom. We will do activities that get us thinking about the planet, make eco-friendly products, and take care of those who care about you. Every girl who registers for this program will receive a tree to plant in addition to their supply kit.

A live Zoom program will be held on Wednesday, April 7, for Daisies and Brownies, Wednesday, April 14, for Juniors and Cadettes or Wednesday, April 28, for Seniors and Ambassadors. Participation in the session is not required to earn the badges.

The following badges will be earned/received: Daisy - Zinni Petal, Brownie - Household Elf, Junior - Social Butterfly, Cadette - Science of Happiness, Senior - Women's Health, and Ambassador - Dinner Party.

May

On Your Mark, Get Set, Go! 

May is National Physical Fitness and Sports Month. Join Girl Scouts of Southern Illinois while we #MoveInMay. Each week you will receive a series of different activities, challenges or games to keep you moving! You will also complete the requirements to earn a badge during this time.

Daisies - Sports
Brownies - Making Games
Juniors - Staying Fit
Cadettes - Good Sportsmanship
Seniors - Cross Training
Ambassadors - Coaching badges.

A live Zoom session will be held on Tuesday, May 11th at 4 p.m. for Daisies, Brownies, and Juniors and Thursday, May 13th at 4 p.m. for Cadettes, Seniors and Ambassadors. Participation is not required to earn the badges.

           

Virtual Programs by Demand for Troops & Service Unit Events

The Girls Scouts of Southern Illinois Program Engagement team is now offering Virtual Programs by Demand for your troop or service unit event. Programs currently being offered include:

Just fill in the Programs by Demand Wufoo Form at least 3 weeks prior to the time you are requesting.

Program cost: $5 per girl for 1 hour Zoom badge program or $10 per girl for 2 hour Zoom Journey program. Service Units contact Customer Care (customercare@gsofsi.org). Activity supplies and badges are NOT included in the cost.

Financial Assistance Available

Financial Assistance provides for girls who could not otherwise attend a council program. It is expected that the parent/guardian applying for assistance pay at least 50% of the fee. All requests are kept confidential.

Financial Assistance Guidance
  • Financial assistance is available for individuals only, not troops.
  • Financial assistance form must be submitted separately for each girl and program.
  • The request will not be processed if the form is not completed in its entirety. 
  • The Girl Scout must have participated in the annual cookie sale program unless membership began after the sale date of the current Girl Scout year.
  • Applications will be processed and parent will be notified of decision by email. If approved, the parent/guardian will be emailed and an invoice will be sent for 50% of the program cost. Program registration will not be complete until the payment has been made.
  • Financial assistance is available while funding lasts.
