Girl Scouts of Southern Illinois Uniforms

Girl Scout Uniforms

For over a century, Girl Scouts have proudly worn distinctive uniforms that symbolize the high ideals for which the organization stands. Wearing a Girl Scout uniform shows the world that a girl is proud of her commitment to the Girl Scout Promise & Law.

Girl Scouts at each level now wear one required element (tunic, sash, or vest) to display official pins and awards. Girls can mix and match pieces from the official Girl Scout collection to complete the uniform, or add items from their own wardrobes.

The initial official Girl Scout insignia that is placed on a girl's uniform includes flag, troop number, council id, tab and membership pins.

Where to Place Insignia on a Girl Scout Uniform

Girl Scout badges, patches, awards, and other insignia should be presented, worn, and displayed only after Girl Scouts have completed the requirements outlined in official program materials.

 Girl Scout Daisy Uniforms
Girl Scout Brownie Uniforms
 Girl Scout Junior Uniforms
 Girl Scout Cadette Uniforms
 Girl Scout Senior Uniforms
 Girl Scout Ambassador Uniforms

Girl Scouts at each level have one required element (tunic, sash, or vest) to display official pins and awards when they participate in ceremonies or officially represent the Girl Scout Movement.

Complete the Girl Scout Look

When girls are participating in a more formal event such as attending a town hall meeting or conducting an official flag ceremony, it's nice to appear in unified, polished attire.

For girls ages 5 to 14, the unifying look is their Girl Scout uniform component (tunic, vest, or sash) combined with their own solid white shirts and khaki pants or skirts. Girl Scouts in high school have the option of wearing a scarf that connects their look with that of Girl Scout sisters around the world. Girl Scouts at the Daisy and Brownie levels have a full uniform ensemble available through Girl Scout Shops.

For adult members, the unifying look is official membership pins combined with their own navy blue business attire. An official Girl Scout scarf and tie are also available in Girl Scout Shops.

Say Yes to the Vest

Say Yes to The Vest

Let’s show Southern Illinois how proud we are to be Girl Scouts!  Those friendly and helpful girls who restocked the food pantry?  Those were Girl Scouts. The courageous and strong teen who spoke up at the city council meeting?  She’s a Girl Scout. That considerate and caring squad that launched an anti-bullying campaign at their school?  Yep, Girl Scouts. Everywhere, all across the globe, there are Girl Scouts making the world a better place through their teamwork, leadership and civic action. Wearing Girl Scout uniforms with pride makes it clear how powerful the Girl Scout movement truly is.

To recognize your Girl Scout spirit, Girl Scouts of Southern Illinois has launched the new “Say Yes to the Vest” campaign! Girl Scouts of Southern Illinois Service Unit Managers, Community Engagement Managers, and Board Members will have “Say Yes to the Vest” patches to give to girls when they catch them in the community wearing their tunics, vests, or sashes. All you have to do is keep up the good work and put your Girl Scout pride on display!
