Girl Scout Brownies and Juniors are invited to enjoy a hands-on
"Cheesy Does It" experience at the Marcoot Jersey Creamery.
During this 75-minute program, Girl Scouts will explore the
fascinating world of dairy farming and create their very own cheesy
masterpieces to take home.
Participants will begin with a
behind-the-scenes tour of the robotic milking parlor to see how modern
technology helps care for cows and collect milk. Girl Scouts will also
visit the calf barn, where they'll learn about calf care and have the
chance to pet the baby calves.
The experience continues with a
delicious cheese-making activity. Since making cheese from scratch is
a lengthy process, Girl Scouts will start with fresh, unflavored
cheese curds while learning how milk becomes cheese. They'll sample a
variety of cheeses, choose from three seasoning options, and mix their
own custom flavor. Each Girl Scout will also design a personalized
label for their unique curd creation to take it home with her at the
end of the visit.
To top off the fun, every participant will
enjoy a scoop of vanilla ice cream. This specialty program lasts 1
hour and 15 minutes and is $15.00 per person, and will include a fun
patch. Due to limited space, this event can accommodate up to 15 Girl
Scouts.
