Girl Scouts Self-Defense Seminar Sunday, January 4, 2026 * 1:00-4:00
PM Hosted by the Carbondale Park District
Girl Scouts of all
levels are invited to an empowering afternoon of self-defensetraining.
During this three-hour seminar, participants will learn foundational
techniques in aikido, jujitsu, and karate, led by experienced
instructors in a supportive and beginner-friendly environment.
Scouts should wear light, loose, and comfortable clothing that allows
for plenty of movement. Training will be conducted barefoot, so no
special footwear is needed. Following the seminar, all participants
are invited to stay for a celebratory pizza party.
Parents and
troop leaders are encouraged to join the training alongside their Girl
Scouts. Everyone attending must sign a waiver, provided by the
Carbondale Park District. Adults must sign a waiver on behalf of those
under 18. You can find a link to the waiver below.
This program
is free, but pre-registration is required by Monday, December 22th,
2025.
