Step into the world of automotive skills at The Girl Scout Auto Adventure Lab, a dynamic 4-hour, hands-on workshop designed especially for Girl Scout Cadettes, Seniors, and Ambassadors. Hosted on-site at the SIUC Labs in Murphysboro, Illinois, this interactive experience invites girls to explore the basics of car care in a fun, supportive environment. Led by the Women in Automotive Technology from Southern Illinois University, participants will learn essential skills like checking fluids, understanding warning lights, tire basics, and more-all through a mix of engaging instruction and real-world practice. This is more than just a workshop-it's a chance to build confidence, ask questions, and see firsthand what a future in skilled trades can look like. The cost is $9.00 per girl and includes a fun patch. Adults must register at no cost. This event runs from 10 am - 2 pm. Girls are invited to bring a healthy snack for a noon break.
This is NOT A DROP OFF EVENT. Adults are required to remain with their Girl Scouts. As required by Volunteer Essentials and Safety Activity Checkpoints, adults attending this event are responsible for their troop or individual Girl Scouts behavior. During non-drop-off Girl Scout events, adults attending the event are responsible for the safety and well-being of the youth that are in their care during the event. Do not leave your Girl Scouts in the care of other adults at the event that are not part of your troop or directly related to the child. All adults participating with a troop or registered to volunteer at the event are required to have a current/eligible background check (CBC) and to be a registered Girl Scout adult volunteer.
