Youth Mental Health First Aid is primarily designed for adults who regularly
interact with young people. The course introduces common mental health
challenges for youth, reviews typical adolescent development, and teaches a
5-step action plan for how to help young people in both crisis and non-crisis
situations. Topics covered include anxiety, depression, substance use, disorders
in which psychosis may occur, disruptive behavior disorders (including AD/HD),
and eating disorders.
This blended learning course includes an online portion (approximately 2 hours),
an instructor-led classroom skills session (approximately 5 hours) and an online
evaluation to be taken after the instructor-led session. The online portion must
be completed before attending the in-class portion and the post work must be
completed within 10 days of completing the in-class portion.
**The instructor-led portion will be held via Zoom from 6pm-8:30pm on the
evenings on March 23rd and March 24th. Attendance is required both evenings for
completion. **
