Youth Mental Health First Aid is primarily designed for adults who
regularly
interact with young people. The course introduces
common mental health
challenges for youth, reviews typical
adolescent development, and teaches a
5-step action plan for how
to help young people in both crisis and non-crisis
situations.
Topics covered include anxiety, depression, substance use,
disorders
in which psychosis may occur, disruptive behavior
disorders (including AD/HD),
and eating disorders.
This
blended learning course includes an online portion (approximately 2
hours),
an instructor-led classroom skills session
(approximately 5 hours) and an online
evaluation to be taken
after the instructor-led session. The online portion must
be
completed before attending the in-class portion and the post work must
be
completed within 10 days of completing the in-class
portion.
**The instructor-led portion will be held via Zoom from
6pm-8:30pm on the
evenings on March 23rd and March 24th.
Attendance is required both evenings for
completion. **
Girl members who are at least 18 years of age at the time of the
training can
attend this program.
