Congratulations to Karie Preston from Edwardsville! She is being recognized with Girl Scouts of Southern Illinois' Volunteer Spotlight Award for her service with Service Unit 101 Alton/Godfrey/Wood River/Roxana
Volunteer Spotlight Awards celebrate volunteers who are honored by their peers for living the Girl Scout Law. Here is why Karie is being recognized as a shining example of a great volunteer:
"Karie has been a troop leader for 12 years and will be missed
as her troop graduates this spring. She brings her skills as an art
and music teacher to everything she does. For the last several years,
she has led our service unit in "Caroling at the Annual Tree
Lighting" in Alton. She has taken the time to create songbooks
for us that will be passed to the next coordinator.
During registration events, Karie can often be found helping with
decorations, guiding girls in making friendship bracelets, or making
fun origami style bookmarks, just to name a few things she has lent
her talents to in our service unit. Recently, she jumped in to help
with our Color Guard at our Investiture and Rededication Ceremony, as
well.
With Karie’s time as a leader coming to an end as
her troop graduates, her absence will be felt in the service unit!"
