Congratulations to Katrina Bergman from O'Fallon! She is being recognized with Girl Scouts of Southern Illinois' Volunteer Spotlight Award for her service with Service Unit 201 O'Fallon/Shiloh.
Volunteer Spotlight Awards celebrate volunteers who are honored by their peers for living the Girl Scout Law. Here is why Katrina is being recognized as a shining example of a great volunteer:
"Katrina is a Girl Scout leader of a 12th grade Ambassador Troop. She has been in a leadership position since her troop were Daisy Girl Scouts. She is a consummate Girl Scout and always ready with a helpful hand and a kind smile.
A new leader needed assistance at her first parent/troop meeting and Katrina quickly volunteered to assist. She arrived ready to help with activities, crafts and anything else that was needed.
Katrina is an incredibly calm person, she never flusters, she is always smiling and sharing her smiles with others. Being a seasoned troop leader, Katrina is quick to see when a change of pace is needed and gathered the girls into a circle for some movement with song during this troop's meeting. She taught them their first Girl Scout song that night! One of the girls even asked her if she works for Girl Scouts -she is truly a professional! Katrina is everything you could ask for in a Girl Scout volunteer and more! She is amazing!"
