Congratulations to Tina Cloin from O'Fallon! She is being recognized with Girl Scouts of Southern Illinois' Volunteer Spotlight Award for her service with Service Unit 201 O'Fallon/Shiloh.
Volunteer Spotlight Awards celebrate volunteers who are honored by their peers for living the Girl Scout Law. Here is why Tina is being recognized as a shining example of a great volunteer:
"Tina is a dynamic and dedicated leader for a busy Brownie Troop. She also has a daughter in a Junior Troop so Girl Scout adventures are part of her normal routine. As a healthcare worker, Tina is ideally suited to meet the needs of the campers as the Camp First Aider.
Tina immediately offered her services as the First Aider for service unit 201’s “Mini” Day Camp. She was also interested in leading a unit but is saving that for next year since she spent Day Camp on crutches. Tina was constantly prepared for any first aid issue that arose but was happy to have only applied three band-aids during the entire camp, and those were all on the first day.
Tina worked hand-in-hand with one camper’s mom (and the Unit Leader) throughout the Service Unit 201 “mini” Day Camp to ensure medical condition needs were being met, enabling this camper to have a wonderful time at camp and providing the peace of mind to mom that her daughter was being well looked after. Tina’s medical knowledge and personal skills made this an amazing day camp experience for this young Girl Scout attending camp for the first time.
Tina’s generosity in giving her time, knowledge and skills, all while being on crutches herself, truly were appreciated by all those at camp."
