Congratulations to Ashley Foltz from O'Fallon! She is being recognized with Girl Scouts of Southern Illinois' Volunteer Spotlight Award for her service with Service Unit 201 O'Fallon/Shiloh.
Volunteer Spotlight Awards celebrate volunteers who are honored by their peers for living the Girl Scout Law. Here is why Ashley is being recognized as a shining example of a great volunteer:
"Ashley is the Co-Leader for Troop 234 - a multi-level Daisy/Brownie Troop. She is enthusiastic and loves Girl Scouts. When the request for support was made to assist a new leader, Ashley was the first to respond with an emphatic, "I'll be there"!
Ashley knows first-hand the challenges of that initial troop meeting with parents. She managed that delicate balance of keeping new Girl Scouts focused and active while engaging parents and establishing a rapport with them as a new troop, having begun her own path of troop leadership just last year. Knowing what it was like, Ashley was the first to offer her support to a new troop leader and the first to arrive at the meeting. She assisted the new leader in getting set up, then assisted the girls, along with other volunteers, in learning the Girl Scout promise and sharing a little about themselves through activities.
Ashley is fun to be around, and that positive energy was shared with this new leader, these new Girl Scout parents and the Girl Scouts themselves. Ashley is truly a Girl Scout that lives the Law in everything she does!"
