Congratulations to Karla Robbins from O'Fallon! She is being recognized with Girl Scouts of Southern Illinois' Volunteer Spotlight Award for her service with Service Unit 201 O'Fallon/Shiloh.
Volunteer Spotlight Awards celebrate volunteers who are honored by their peers for living the Girl Scout Law. Here is why Karla is being recognized as a shining example of a great volunteer:
"Karla held the role of Co-Leader for Cadette Troop 505 and offered her time in volunteering for the Cadette Unit at the Service Unit 201 "mini" Day Camp in June. Karla was a fantastic Unit Leader for the Cadette unit.
The Cadette unit quickly bonded and accomplished so many of goals of camp. The girls not only worked at earning Cadette badges, they formed bonds, they sang songs, they learned new skills and they learned a lot about themselves and the world around them - in great part due to Karla.
Karla shared stories of her own experiences to enhance the badge work, she encouraged creativity and provided a safe space for girls to try things in a new way. Karla truly led by example and was a wonderful unit leader - guiding girls from different troops and encouraging them to face challenges and overcome them all while having a lot of fun during some very hot days. Karla is a wonderful role model and a fantastic Girl Scout."
