Congratulations to Angie Wilsing from Troy! She is being recognized with Girl Scouts of Southern Illinois' Volunteer Spotlight Award for her service with Service Unit 201 O'Fallon/Shiloh.
Volunteer Spotlight Awards celebrate volunteers who are honored by their peers for living the Girl Scout Law. Here is why Angie is being recognized as a shining example of a great volunteer:
"Angie is the Co-Leader for Junior Troop 292. She is creative, detail oriented, and generous with her time.
Service Unit 201 decided in March 2022 to plan and host a “mini” Day camp for girls in the service unit, and when the call went out for volunteers, Angie answered. She said she would love to help with behind the scenes stuff, and to just let her know what was needed.
An offer like that was jumped on and Angie quickly became the Camp Kitchen Assistant as well as the Camp Photographer.Being the camp Kitchen Assistant also entailed helping wherever needed, and it found Angie helping to set up gazebo structures each morning, getting units organized, cleaning and generally being the extra set of hands needed 100 times a day. Angie also organized unit photos as well as the group photos that were later printed out and distributed to campers. She helped decorate for the bridging ceremonies and took candid photos throughout camp, all while being careful to not be overcome by the extreme heat advisory.
Angie is a kind, caring, generous person and is a great Girl Scout! She is helpful, often lending a hand when the person needing it is too busy to ask. She was a wonderful asset to the service unit “mini” Camp!"
