Congratulations to Service Unit 101 Alton/Godfrey/Wood River/Roxana for being named the November 2024 Standout Service Unit!
On October 10th, Service Unit 101 held its Investiture and Rededication Ceremony. The ceremony opened with a flag ceremony. Then, leaders and returning girls got to participate in a Rededication Ceremony to renew their commitment to Girl Scouts. An Investiture Ceremony was held for girls who are new to Girl Scouts, as well.
These ceremonies are always heartfelt and important and this year they had an extra sparkle and light to them. The Service Unit used a candle that was lit when they visited the First Girl Scout Headquarters in Savannah, GA last year.
After the ceremonies, one of the Cadette Troops organized a few fun activities including a pumpkin-themed craft and a swap for the girls to participate in. Approximately 40 girls, more than 10 leaders, and nearly 100 family members and friends were in attendance.
This was a great event for the younger girls to see the older girls still participating in Girl Scouts and having the Girl Scout spirit.
If your service unit has an amazing event that you want to share, you can nominate them for a chance to win a $50 gift card to the GSofSI Council Shop! Submissions for December events are due by January 6th!
