Project Outdoors

Outdoor experiences are key to mental and physical well-being. The touch of cool water welcoming you as you dip your foot into a lake. The breeze tickling your face and taking away your worries as you hike through the woods. The sun brightening your way as you take aim on the archery range. All of these moments are part of the Girl Scout outdoor experience – one that’s waiting for every girl.
Summer is in full swing, and Camp Torqua is buzzing with laughter, adventure, and discovery as girls from across Southern Illinois build confidence, friendships, and unforgettable memories. Thanks to generous supporters, we’ve made exciting improvements—including a brand-new area—The Pines—with four beautiful cabins and a welcoming pavilion, and a freshly paved, fully ADA-accessible trail, ensuring every camper can experience all Camp Torqua has to offer. But one urgent need couldn’t wait: replacing the old bunk beds. To ensure every camper has a safe, comfortable place to rest after a full day of hiking, archery, and campfire songs, we’ve upgraded all the bunks—and now we’re asking for your help to help cover the cost of these cozy new additions.
You can “adopt a bunk” and directly impact the comfort and safety of girls attending camp:
Your gift ensures that every girl—regardless of financial circumstances—can enjoy a clean, restful sleep and wake up ready for a day of adventure.
We hope you will
consider supporting Project Outdoors for Girl Scouts of
Southern Illinois!
With your financial donation, we can continue to improve Camp Torqua and provide even more opportunities for young girls to explore the great outdoors.
