Aside from helping make the world a better place, how else can Girl Scouts stand out? Girls show that they are proud to be a Girl Scout by wearing uniforms that display the badges and patches that symbolize their hard work and achievements. The Girl Scout uniform also shows the world that girls and adults have committed to live by the Girl Scout Promise and Law.
By now, your troop may have decided if and how dues will be collected or how they plan to generate funds from Girl Scout Product Programs or money-earning efforts. When deciding what to do with your earnings, make sure to leave room in the budget for badges, patches, pins and, of course, a Girl Scout uniform to display them on! Depending on the age level, girls may have a choice between a tunic, sash, or vest. Learn more about the uniform for each level and how to complete the “Girl Scout Look.”
One of the most important values that our founder, Juliette Gordon Low, built into this organization was the act of giving back. She wanted Girl Scouts to be out in their communities helping make the world a better place. We continue that tradition today in many ways!
Visit our website to find our council’s yearly “Take Action" community service projects for troops and patch programs related to other service efforts. You can also ask other local troops or troop family members about needs in your community that your girls can help fulfill.
Still not sure how to get involved in the community? Reach out to your local United Way, food bank, or assisted living facility to see if they have any volunteer opportunities for your troop.
Girl Scouts are also prepared to lead the charge in their town, state, and country! Girls can even earn Civics Badges by exploring how their local, state and federal government works.
We know Girl Scouts is about service to others, and we appreciate the service you are providing to Girl Scouts of Southern Illinois!
