Girl Scouts pride themselves on helping their communities and people in need through any challenge that comes their way. For more than a century, Girl Scouts just like you have helped create positive change both locally and worldwide – from helping women exercise their right to vote in 1920, to launching Eco-Action programs during the 1970s, to showing senior citizens they were not alone during the recent pandemic. Girl Scouts always find ways to live by the Girl Scout Law and to make the world a better place. In honor of this legacy, we create Council-Wide Community Service Project patches that our Girl Scouts can earn.
Calling all Girl Scouts to "Lend a Paw" to help local animal shelters through our new summer community service project!
From June 1 to August 31, Girl Scouts will collect much-needed items for local animal shelters, including pet food, toys, and supplies. Girl Scouts can also get crafty with DIY projects for the animal shelter. We encourage troops and individual Girl Scouts to choose a shelter at the start of the program and tailor their donation efforts to that shelter's specific needs.
A list of local shelters, their wish lists, DIY donation requests and guidelines will be sent out to participants shortly after registering.
The program will conclude with Girl Scouts Lend a Paw Day, where Girl Scouts will join together at the shelter of their choice to present their donations in person and participate in hands-on service projects, as determined by the shelter. Girl Scouts will register for this day as a separate event on the Event Calendar. More info coming soon!
This is a fantastic opportunity for Girl Scouts to show compassion, make a direct impact in their communities, and earn a special service patch while doing it! There is no cost for this program.
Please register by July 7 to participate!
Please pre-order your patch from the Council Shop by August 4!
