Community Service

Girl Scouts pride themselves on helping their communities and people in need through any challenge that comes their way. For more than a century, Girl Scouts just like you have helped create positive change both locally and worldwide – from helping women exercise their right to vote in 1920, to launching Eco-Action programs during the 1970s, to showing senior citizens they were not alone during the recent pandemic. Girl Scouts always find ways to live by the Girl Scout Law and to make the world a better place. In honor of this legacy, we create Council-Wide Community Service Project patches that our Girl Scouts can earn.
In honor of Juliette Gordon Low's birthday, help Girl Scouts of Southern Illinois create birthday bags for local food pantries throughout October!
This council-wide community service project will run from October 1-31, ending on Juliette Gordon Low's Birthday. There is no cost for this program.
This service project focuses on making a positive impact by helping those in need. A birthday is a big deal! A day of celebrating the coming year with exciting opportunities. This is a memorable experience for Girl Scouts and everyone involved.
Troops will help their local community by creating bags full of
items needed to celebrate a birthday to donate to local food pantries.
Donations for the project should be collected during the month of
October and can be taken to local food pantries found in your
community.
Items to donate for birthday bags:
Troops can exchange or add other items to create their own unique spin on a birthday bag for their local food pantry.
