Congratulations to Girls Scouts of Southern Illinois FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) teams P3 and Gear Girls and their successful participation in the Arkansas State Championship Tournament!
In FTC, students in grades 7-12 learn to think like engineers. Teams design, build, and code robots to compete in an alliance format against other teams.
At the tournament, P3 won the Connect Award for "connecting the dots between the community, FIRST, and the diversity of the engineering world." Gear Girls won the Motivate award for "sparking others to embrace the culture of FIRST."
Both GSofSI teams made it to the playoffs rounds, with P3 being playoff captain. Gear Girls, with their alliance partner, LRCA Cross Wired, made a deep playoff run before eventually succumbing to a higher seeded team. These go-getting Girl Scouts had an amazing experience and were a huge inspiration to other girls attendance.
