Congratulations to GSofSI Robotics teams P3 and Gear Girls! Both teams delivered a fine performance at the FIRST Tech Challenge Illinois State Tournament!
In FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC), students in grades 7-12 learn to think like engineers. Teams design, build, and code robots to compete in an alliance format against other teams.
Gear Girls had an impressive 3-2 qualifying record in their first state tournament appearance. P3 won the Connect Award for "connecting the dots between community, FIRST, and the diversity of the engineering world," which qualifies them to participate in one of the FIRST Premier Events over the summer.
All the hard work and effort the teams have put into this season has been inspiring! Combined, the teams have logged more than 1600 hours of outreach, meet with dozens of industry professionals, and built multiple competition robots. Plus, these teams have spread their love for STEM throughout the community - including by building 8 robots for the O'Fallon City Fest!
We are extremely proud of what P3 and Gear Girls have accomplished this season! Thank you to The Bayer Fund for helping support our Girl Scout Robotics program.
